La Casa De La Vall: La Casa de la Vall History, beauty, political importance. There are lots of reasons that make Casa de la Vall one of the most symbolic monuments in Andorra, if not the most. It’s located in the heart of the old town of Andorra la Vella and can be visited. Here’s description of the most important parts of its history.
In the old quarter of Andorra la Vella you’ll discover monuments full of history and brimming with charm. In the centre of Andorra la Vella you’ll also come across other historical buildings, such as Casa Guillemó, a house in Plaça Príncep Benlloch, very close to the church of Sant Esteve. You’ll also see several samples of granite architecture from the first half of the 20th century, such as Casa Felipó, next to the Pyrénées department store, and the old Vilanova clinic in Plaça Rebés.
The Church of Sant Esteve stands in the old quarter of Andorra la Vella alongside the parliament building. It is Romanesque in origin (12th century) and was considerably modified in the 20th century. From Romanesque times we are given the semi-circular apse, the largest in the principality and which represented the Romanesque mural paintings now spread between the Catalonia National Art Museum and two private collections.
